Welcomes Up Pageantry A non-profit producer of two of Placer County’s most prestigious pageants: the northern Sierra Pageants at the Gold Country Fair every September, and the Placer County Scholarship Pageants, a Placer County tradition at the Fair since 1937. Up Pageantry provides the best and most transparent pageant experience anywhere, and focuses on developing marketable and life skills for contestants in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Mardi Gras Carnaval’s Krewe of Gumbo Parade ( February 17 Old Sacramento ) is Proud & Honored to announce our 2024 Barbie Princess “ Sofia Sanchez” She is a Ukrainian American actress, model, and advocate. She first became known seven years ago for her viral video “Down Syndrome is Not Scary.” Sofia had her acting debut in the 2015 television series Switched at Birth and her first movie role came in the 2022 short film For Paloma. This past November, Sofia appeared in theatres across the country playing Wovey in her first major motion picture, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Her adoption story inspired two of her published Scholastic books You are Enough and You are Loved, and a third book, You are Brave, is coming in Spring 2024. You may see her face in various Old Navy and Target print ads and commercials but what you remember is her vibrant personality the moment you meet her. The BTU Arts Brass Band is made up of current BTU Arts teachers and community members young and old who perform traditional New Orleans Second Line music throughout the greater Sacramento area. Sacramento Youth Band (SYB) is a community-based nonprofit organization providing area youth with an opportunity to play in our Symphonic Band, Jazz Big Band and Jazz Combo. SYB has been educating and inspiring young musicians in the Sacramento area since 1957. Bring your Lawn chairs, dancing shoes and party on the parade route.
